Stinson Funeral Home |
The Kadesh Missionary Baptist Church was founded on a vision,
determination, prayer, and faith in God. This vision was that of our founder, the late
Rev. Dr. James H. Williams, Jr. In 1977, Pastor Williams, along with a hand full of
faithful members left Aijalon Baptist Church and set out to form a church of refuge.
Services were briefly held at the Stinson Funeral Home.

Kadesh Founding Pastor and First Lady |
| Upon being Blessed by God, the purchase of a Holy place was realized at
12000 Grand River Avenue in Detroit, and bore the name Kadesh, which means
Holy Place, a place of refuge. Under the leadership of this pastor, the church was led to
grow on. |

On April 11, 1982, Pastor Williams made his transition from life to glory. But that
didn't stop the growth of Kadesh. Following the death of Pastor Williams, Rev. Gregory
Lewis Foster, Sr. became our pastor. Under his leadership, the church was able burn the
mortgage in December of 1984.

14500 Greenfield - Kadesh Second Edifice
With the Blessing of the Lord, the church grew and we relocated to 14500 Greenfield on
September 29, 1985. We were able to burn the mortgage in July of 1993.
Because of the blessings of the Lord, Kadesh expanded to two worship services. In
January of 1994, Kadesh was able to accommodate the youth of Kadesh by starting a Youth
Church. As God continued to bless, a larger facility was required to minister to the
community and our church family. We expanded physically and spiritually. And with this
growth, it enabled the membership body to experience all the gifts of the Holy Spirit
which the Lord has provided, and see to the needs of our young and elderly membership, and
the community.

20361 Plymouth Road - Kadesh Current Edifice
Late in the year 2000, our Pastor was given a vision that would again move Kadesh to
another level. God blessed us with our current location on Plymouth Road. Our new edifice
will house a 2,000 seat sanctuary and fellowship hall and there is still room for growth.
Our new home offers Kadesh the opportunity to minister to the people in our new
neighborhood, while continuing to serve our growing congregation. With this we thank our
Lord and Savior and pray that he will continue to lead us with his blessings.
